the day You say "yes"

A person who is engaged is going through one of the most exciting times in his or her life. After receiving congratulations from his or her dearest and crying out loud: "Oh my God, I'm getting married!", a question arises: what is next?

For everyone the day of marriage is sacred. It must be a beautiful day, a day to tie the knot. Everything should be perfect, the guests should enjoy the ceremony and the bride's tears must appear in her eyes because of happiness only. The moment you are engaged you start thinking about this: the one day when you say "yes" to your soul mate.

In the beginning you realize how difficult it is to think about every single detail. For our parents it was easier: they selected a date, found a best friend to be their bridesmaid or their best man, sent the invitation cards to all their relatives and friends and looked for a photographer and a camera men.

Today we have endless possibilities and making the right choice has become ever more difficult.

Every couple tries to make their wedding special, unusual, unforgettable and sometimes goes beyond their imagination.

Starting from the first thing we see on every wedding, the dress, some brides think that a white long dress with laces and a wedding veil are old-fashioned and prefer to replace it with a short white dress, which they can easily wear after, or rather a long, lace-free, very simple dress with or without a short veil. Sometimes puffy dresses do not get sold, as they are not comfortable if the bride must walk, have a ride in the car or dance.

Men’s fashion too has changed. A classic suit will always be the priority if the ceremony is a formal one, while the colour of the shirt changes with the form of the tie, even if exceptions do exist.

A recent survey revealed that a couple looks up on average 10 fashion blogs before making a final choice.

If we look at the blog of British fashion blogger Bonnie Rakhit, the first thing she recommends to do is to take into account the climate of the month when the wedding is taking place. If the weather is bound to be hot, there is nothing better than natural textiles such as silk or cotton;  as for shoes, the best solution is a wedge heel for height and stability to walk on cobbles, grass or sand. If the dress is long, the girl can also put on flats and this looks chic, especially if decorated with jewels. Even if the bride wears a puffy, lacy and corseted dress, she may feel freeze in air-conditioned rooms of the restaurant, while guests in fine dresses should think about cover ups. An elegant jacket coupled with a small shawl will do.

Bonnie Rakhit pays attention to the colour of the dress as the climate is hot in the country she focuses on: Italy. Bright colours such as olive, beige or light rose are good for a summer wedding. The recommendation she gives for the hair is to be natural and possibly add tiny decorating flowers.

The material of the suit should be as natural as possible. For instance, a light cotton blazer will be more convenient than a heavy classic black one. For the shirt, white or beige is perfect for a summertime wedding;  in order to avoid the Miami Vice look of the 80s, more colourful shirts should not be worn. For a wedding on the beach you can wear cloth-boating shoes or other dress shoes and it will be perfect. The main recommendation for this type of event is to not wear too much, but feel comfortable and self-confident.

The children who will attend the wedding will look stylish in suits, but should wear casual, comfortable shoes and be ready to walk a lot. Cute white or beige dresses will make little girls look like little angels bringing luck. (A)

After finding an ideal dress, the couple goes on to focus on other details, since a  wedding is supposed to be one for their whole life: nothing should be left to chance. In the United States they let Wedding Planners organize everything. It’s in this country that this profession first appeared and it is also where this business became popular and prosperous. Specialists organize everything from choosing the right decorations up to renting a personal airplane for guests. Wedding Planning appeared in France in the 2000s and relying upon professionals has become more and more popular ever since, meeting the ever-growing demands of modern brides and grooms who very often have to deal with a lack of time for the preparation of the ceremony. What exactly does the Wedding Planner do?

He is like the director of your wedding. You tell him your ideas, desires, criteria, your limits and your budget. He will select the best providers, give you his or her own ideas, share his or her experience, find solutions for all the constraints, give you a lot of valuable advice.

A specialist will facilitate the whole planning and will save you much time, which you will be able to spend with your significant other. It’s a consultant of a kind. Surely, only you will have the final word of what the setting of your wedding will look like and no-one else will impose their opinion on you.

A wedding planner knows everything about weddings, can help the bride choose a dress that goes well with her eyes, accompanies her to a coiffure and make-up trial, plans the D-day hour by hour and doesn't forget a single detail, such as rendering all the wedding documents at the City Hall, helping guests that get lost between the church and reception location, and so on and so forth. It’s a  universal assistant who can find the best solution for any difficulty and for any unexpected situation. It provides a complete planning from A to Z; also, this professional will be there at the ceremony to make sure that everything goes the right way. (B)

The service of a Wedding Planner is irreplaceable not only if you have no time to prepare one of the brightest days in your life, but also if you get stressed at the mere uttering of the word "planning" and  if you live far and cannot organize everything remotely. It can also be helpful if you already have a full plan for your wedding and you want a specialist to double-check it.

Today you can find a lot of different agencies specialized in Wedding Planning in France and Italy. They will be glad to help you realize any of your ideas, including the bravest ones. They can help you deal with all the bureaucratic questions at the City Hall, organize your ceremony on a desert island, or even organize your honeymoon in Siberia, where you can have a ride on a sled pulled by dogs or deers and sleep in a real yurta. Just get married and let your dreams come true! (B)
